Located in the middle of the Cajón de Lo Valdés, it is hard to notice the existence of Mount Corona. It isn´t visible from the road that drives from San Gabriel upto Baños Morales. One must go past Baños Morales in order to see it, or gain some altitude by trekking into the Cajón del Morado or Cajón de Morales. Even so, it would be difficult to distinguish it if it weren´t for its distinctive rocky turret, from which it surely gets its name, which in spanish means crown. Indeed, the final rock crowns what would otherwise not be much more than a ridge connecting mounts Vega and Valdés.
The other major feature of the Corona, is its condition as a magnificent viewpoint of numerous neighboring mountains. Just to mention a few: Nevado de Flores towards the south, Vn. Maipo towards the southeast, Vn. San José, mounts Arenas, Loma Larga, Mesón Alto, Morado, San Francisco, Retumbaderos and Diablo.
