South of the Laguna del Morado, there is this "small" mountain - smalled if compared with its neighbors - called Cerro Unión. Perhaps it is because its summit unites two of the prettiest sceneries of the Central Andes, those of the Morales and Morado valleys.
Towards the South, it gazes upon the Lo Valdés and Morales valleys; to the Southeast, it is the formidable Cerro Castillo that catches the eye; to the East, the Marmolejo and San José volcano; and towards the North, a superb panorama of the great Morado Valley in complete splendor. Here, the invitation to climb the emblematic summits that surround Cerro Unión, or at least to visit them, is irresistible.
